What is yoga?
Yoga is a way of connecting the whole self: mind, body & spirit. The term "spirit" is derived from the Greek word, spirare, which means to "breathe". So, it can be thought of as the union between mind, body & breath (Flynn, 2013). When we are focused and balanced, everything becomes easier (for children & adults!).
What are the benefits of yoga for my child?
Are the classes drop-off?
All classes are drop-off unless otherwise indicated. Parents/caregivers can drop their child off and pick them up at the end of class. we recomend you to come wit your child before the class starts and spend sometime with them. however if your child dosnt feel confortable been alone you can stay until them feel confortable. this should be a nice experience.
Can a parent or sibling watch the class?
Parents and siblings are asked not to stay to watch the class, as it has proven to be truly distracting to the children participating when they are aware they are being watched.
How long is each class?
Classes are 45 minutes long, which begins the moment you drop your child off to the time they roll up their mats and wave their goodbyes.
Will my child be grouped with children his/her age?
The groups are carefully constructed so that each child is in his or her age group. Each class is developmentally and chronologically appropriate and aims to meet the needs of the group as a whole.
What is the class structure?
The sessions are really fun, engaging and structured. Each direction is understandable, adaptable and encouraging. The approach taken in each session consists of 5 elements: Connect, Breathe, Move, Focus & Relax. Through these elements, and within a framework of respect for all, compassionate communication, and joyful exploration, students are taught fundamental life skills that are immediately available for daily use.
What is covered in each class?
Each class starts and ends in a similar way, providing consistency and connectedness to the group and the practice. Moving through the five elements described above, children are encouraged to engage in movement activities, guided imagery and meditations, and yoga poses. Special themes, music and some forms of art are appropriately incorporated into the sessions, and everything is explained in a developmentally appropriate way. Each session builds on the one that came before it, helping each child develop a greater understanding and skills as they move forward.
How can I best prepare my child for class?
Give them a light snack before coming, have them dress in comfortable clothes & drop them off with a water bottle.
Does my child need to have their own mat?
No, we provide mats
